Biker at DMR
Could you see a kayaker wearing a cowboy hat? Might you meet a pro mountain biker sipping a cappaccino? Yes you might, in Durango where the old west meets adventure! Miners used to walk the historic Victorian downtown but now its filled with hikers, rock climbers, kayakers, snowboarders, fly fishermen, skiers, archeological explorers, rafters, runners, golfers and mountain bikers.

With a great mix of people, Durango offers something for everyone. Make sure to enjoy the wide variety of music that surrounds Durango with events like Music in the Mountains and the many concerts showing every night around town. And check out our new five million dollar concert hall on the campus of Fort Lewis College.
To the right is the Historical Strater Hotel which was built in the late 1800's when Durango was newly founded. Downtown Durango has a great variety of historical buildings to see.

Train
Blessed by a beautiful four season year but mild weather pattern; it’s easy to fall in love with the beautiful southwestern mountain scenery. What an amazing place to raise children and have so many things to do together as a family. Ride the famous Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Steam Train, laze on the banks of the Animas River, walk the newly completed river path, or take an art class. It’s no wonder that Durango, Colorado is so special to so many people.
