Glacier Club & Tamarron areas

Glacier Club is a private gated community in the mountains, with two exclusive golf courses that total 36 holes.Tamarron shares several property boundaries with the Glacier Club, and many Tamarron residents are members of the club. The two communities also share an entrance, located 18 miles north of Durango, and 10 miles south of Purgatory Ski Resort, to the east of U.S. Highway 550. The entire area is picturesque with views of the Hermosa Cliffs, La Plata Mountains, and the golf greens dotted with small lakes.

Glacier Club residents enjoy privacy, as well as two golf courses, two clubhouses, a new fitness center with a pool and spa, tennis courts, a concierge, and turnkey services. Benefits include a mix of conveniences that allow residents to visit for the summer or winter holidays, without worrying about maintenance, housekeeping, or security. The local metro district provides road maintenance and snowplowing, as well as water and sewer. The communities also have ample access to water from three distinct water sources.

Glacier Club and its golf courses have won numerous awards for the excellent design of its courses and the many environmentally sustainable practices used on the green and by the club. They are an Audubon International Certified Cooperative Sanctuary for Golf, they collect and use grey water to water the grounds, and they protect the wetlands on the property.

The Glacier Club has a full social calendar, and the residents, who are mostly second home owners, meet frequently on the golf course, at the clubs, and at the many social activities and group exercise classes offered by the club. Although most residents stay during the summer and early fall, the annual New Years Eve party is one of the biggest events of the year and many residents come to ski during the winter. The frequent opportunities to socialize make the Glacier Club’s roughly 200 members a tightknit community with many lifelong friendships that extend far beyond the club grounds.

The property is 1,000 acres total, and there are approximately 675 sites for multifamily and single family homes in the Glacier Club, with buildable lots and residences for sale. The earliest construction in the Glacier Club was 2004, and the homes range from townhomes around 1,250 square feet to custom homes near 8,000 square feet. When selling real estate at the Glacier Club, a small percentage of the purchase price is charged as a fee to transfer property ownership. Perspective buyers at the Glacier Club are can stay in the club’s hospitality suit to experience the property first hand before they buy.

Tamarron is made up of a main lodge and three distinct clusters of condominiums, all surrounding the Glacier Valley Golf Course. The lodge and condos together have 379 units, all individually owned by professionals, investors, and second home owners. Residents are a mix of part time and full time, and long and short term renters.

Living at Tamarron has a variety of unique benefits, including the agreement Tamarron has with Glacier Club that allows residents to purchase a membership to the club. There are several membership levels which generally include golfing at the Valley Course, using the Valley Club House, and access to the Glacier Club spa and fitness center in the Tamarron Lodge. The Valley Clubhouse, located near the Tamarron Lodge, has an event hall and outdoor deck that’s popular for hosting weddings and events, as well as a golf shop and a casual restaurant. Vacationers staying at Tamarron through Tamarron Vacation Rentals can also access these Glacier Club amenities.

In addition to the Glacier Club perks, Tamarron residents also get other benefits. A shuttle from Purgatory Ski Resort stops outside the main lodge several times per day during the ski season. Tamarron also offers an onsite rental management team, with cleaning and maintenance services, which allows property owners to rent their condos relatively easily. And residents get together monthly for a fun filled trivia night.

Condos in the main lodge at Tamarron open onto an interior hallway, like a hotel, while outlying condos all have private exterior entrances. The lodge has 139 units on five floors, which are accessible by elevator. Condos throughout Tamarron range from studios with one bath and a mini kitchen to two story condos with multiple bedrooms and full kitchens. The Tamarron lodge was built in 1974, and was recently remodeled in 2014, increasing property values.
